Yesterday I as I drove by on my way home from work I noticed that the
truss's had arrived and were lifted up in place..looks like by next week
we should have a roof on. Here are the pictures that we took on Sunday
when we got back from Long Beach (Wa). They had almost completely
finished framing the upstairs...the rooms seem a little small but will
be perfect for you all to come and spend a night or two with us. And of
course you will spend most of you time in our Great Room cooking pizza's
with us
or something else wonderful.
Looking over the front entry from the upstairs cat walk. We have a light fixture picked out from this area but I'm worried it it will look funny from above...this is the fixture we've picked out |
Standing in the Bonus room...not sure what we will do with this room but some of you will enjoy watching a movie here |
This is looking at the back of the house...there is a lot of work to be done. Hope you'll come and help. |

We have STAIRS...Yes now we can go up and down the stairs all we want. The stairs went in on Monday and when I stopped by on Tuesday that had most of the walls up on the upper floors. We've had great weather so they have been working quickly. We should have a roof on next week sometime. Paul and I are headed to Long Beach, Wa. for a must needed break and bike weekend so I won't be able to document the rest of this weeks work. I hoping to see a big difference when we get back...
.
Tuesday's work...many of the walls on the upstairs are in place...3 bedrooms, Bathroom and Bonus Room. They aren't big but then they won't get used much..

The is the platform that the bonus room will be built on.. |
Bonus Room Window...not sure if it's too big or too low but it's really high up here, this room sits above the 11 fr ceiling of the Great room... |

They are working so fast...all of the interior walls are up, some of the joists are in place for the upstairs. We were told that the Trusses will be here first of next week. In just a few weeks they should be putting on the room and finishing the outside. We are headed over tonight to pick out the stone for the outside. We now are amazed as we stand in our mammoth garage. It seems bigger than the house...Paul is soo happy. So we are also looking at light fixtures..having a hard time finding ones that match but I've added the ones we are looking at....

What a difference a day makes...
What a difference a day makes,
we were told that our rooms would seem very different once the walls went up
and boy it really did make a difference. I know the rooms didn't get any bigger
but they sure seem big. I expect that when I drive by today the first floor
should be done and they will be starting to put in the ceiling joist. By the
end of the week...maybe they will start the second floor. We are having great
weather so they are moving fast....so check back often...
Wall in the great room that the fireplace will be on
Outside looking at the Study Window and the 3 front Master Bathroom windows that
will have stained glass windows in them...
Our bedroom wall..they will be putting 3 15 x15 window that will be above our bed...
and a sliding glass door that will go to the backyard...
Me in front of the wall where the fireplace will be...next to the great room windows that will be re-framed..the wall is tall because it's part of the upstairs. The walls in this room are 11 ft..so the top of the window wall should show you how tall they will be..
Outside...this door will enter from the garage to the house...they haven't started the garage walls yet....
Paul at our Front Door...hope you all come and see us when this is finished...

Sub Floors are on..you can see the rooms drawn on the floor. This has been fun to actually see the size of the rooms. Most are what we thought but a few rooms seem really small. I've been told that once the walls go up it will change the feel of them so I'm excited for that to happen.
It's crazy work building a new house...making decisions that you have to live with for a long time is hard enough but trying to visualize what something will look like from paper to actually build has been tricky.
I went to look at the house while Paul was at a service project and found that the walls were starting to go up. But as a analyzed the great room windows I couldn't get passed the fact that the far right hand windows view was obstructed by the Breakfast Nook Wall...so I dragged Paul over hoping that he would find the same mistake. He did not...he didn't seem to think it was a big deal but agreed that we should change it so that it doesn't drive me crazy..I've included a picture of what it would liike like from my front entry...do you se the obstruction? you can see the breakfast nook through the far right window. Pretty sure that overtime I wouldn't notice it but right now there is no way I could live with it...the solution is 3 window not 4...we will loose some light but it should be better than looking at a wall through the window.
